Shrimp Station overload

Driving through Waimea Town there are plenty of places to stop and savor delicious food and if your a shrimp lover, the Shrimp Station is the spot to pull over and have a bite to eat.

The Shrimp Station is a small house-like building that has outdoor seating. Picnic tables sit under an awning to give you enough shade to sit down and enjoy a variety of different flavored shrimp that's cooked to perfection.

As you look to the chalkboard menu, you can choose having your shrimp sautéed in a variety of sauces like garlic, sweet chile garlic, cajun mild spicy or thai spicy sauce served with your choice of steamed white rice or boiled red potatoes.

Shrimp and chips are also served with papaya ginger tartar dipping sauce and french fries. If you like coconut flavored food or coconuts in general Shrimp Station has coconut shrimp which is dipped in a secret batter, breaded with coconut flakes and fried. The beer battered shrimp is dipped in a golden ale beer batter and fried to a nice golden brown color.

Let's take the way shrimp is cooked, to the next level. Ever imagined having a shrimp burger? And no, not having your hamburger patty topped with shrimp.

Well you can order the shrimp burger which is grounded shrimp that's dipped into a secret batter, breaded, and shaped into a patty served with lettuce and tomato. Now that's an innovative way of taking food to the next level of experimental cooking.

Speaking of experimental cooking, the Shrimp Station serves shrimp tacos with a side of chips and salsa. With this dish you get two tacos filled with sautéed shrimp, cheese, lettuce and salsa.

If you're feeling fishy, there's fried fish and chips which is served with french fries, battered fish burger or panko crusted fish burger. The battered fish burger is dipped in golden ale beer batter. The panko crusted fish burger is dipped in secret batter, breaded, and then fried.

Of course, if you want a quick snack you can order sides such as the shrimp cocktail, french fries, hot dog with fries or onion rings.

With so many delicious choices, I went with the garlic dish. This dish was served on a plate with two scoops of steamed white rice, ten pieces of shrimp that was sautéed in olive oil, garlic, white wine, and a creamy white sauce. Along with my delicious shrimp plate, I had a side of french fries which were cooked to a crisp. Being the shrimp lover that I am, this sautéed shrimp was tasty and satisfying to my soul.

The pricing is a little high for some of the shrimp dishes but is definitely worth spending every penny on.
